    How do they get sunlight if they are covered? Is this for short term or overwintering?

    • @greykitty4712
      @greykitty4712 Місяць тому

      Thanks for your question. This is for very short term. The cover will protect when nighttime temperatures drop to near or slightly below freezing early in the fall, or late in the spring season. It should be removed the next day. It will get too hot under the cloth once the sun hits it. Thank you and we hope that is helpful.

    That’s very interesting and helpful advice, thank you 👍 I’ve always thought that wetting tomato plants in warm weather causes blight, especially amongst heirloom varieties? With that in mind; does using a water spray jet to wash aphids off leaves not cause blight? I usually just introduce ladybirds (maybe called ladybugs in the USA?) to deal with aphids. A glut of aphids inspires the ladybirds to lay lots of eggs and they soon see off the aphids and they’re most effective indoors inside greenhouses and polytunnel.

    These advises are absolutely useless and even harmful. Dead already consumed by microbes compost does not improve soil its a bandaid on a huge wound. Large amount of organic matter and suffucient watering does. Using pesticides and herbicides even by following instructions is deadly for the soil! That should not be used in any garden! In fact it should ne outlawed and taken out of the stores! Tumbs down for this video, there are some wise words but they are lost in other nonsence.

    Are these tips safe for pets? I am worried about my dog being around these products.

    • @TagawaGardens
      @TagawaGardens 4 місяці тому

      Thank you, and most of the products we recommend for fertilizing are organic based and safe for pets and people, however we always recommend reading the label for application information and warnings. There are also many natural and conventional weed control products, and we recommend reading the label on these as well as fertilizers and any products you use in your yard as even natural products and be harmful if not used correctly. Thank you for asking.

    Can I use the same soil for ground orchid?

    • @TagawaGardens
      @TagawaGardens 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for asking. You might try it, but the soil and moss might hold too much moisture over time. Just be vigilant and if there is a concern that it is not doing well, you could dismantle the kokedama and plant the ground orchid in a traditional pot instead.

      Thanks for watching our video! The succulents in this video are only for growing indoors. There are some succulents like sedums, sempervivum (hen and chicks), hardy cacti that can be grown outdoors in our climate, we will have these plants in our Perennial Dept. coming up in spring! Thank you!

    The roots that are coming up out of the pot do you want to just twist them back downward or do you want to cut them off too???? Your video answered all my other questions. One thing I love about orchids is there's so many different ones. Not just different colors but completely different looking flowers. Looks like you got a pretty cool job

    Thank you for this informative Video! How Awesome! I had no idea one could have these type of plants here in CO! I just bought a cactus from another vendor on a whim awhile back, and they literally drowned it. It is in stress mode. My question is, after planting, how much and how frequently should you water a succulent? My plant is in about a 5" x 5" circular clay pot, and I am in close proximity to Tagawa regarding elevation. Thanks!

    • @greykitty4712
      @greykitty4712 Рік тому

      Thank you and we apologize for the delay. Frequency of watering succulents depends upon how much light they receive. Plants that receive lots of light will need more water. A general rule of thumb is about every two weeks in winter and weekly in summer but it really depends on how warm the location is and how much light it received. In either case, when watering, water thorough so the water flows through the pot and out the drainage holes. Let the pot drain for about 5 or 10 minutes then make sure to remove all the drainage water as succulents do not like to sit in water. Hope this is helpful!

    • @TagawaGardens
      @TagawaGardens Рік тому

      Dear Jason, thanks for asking! You can still plant as long as you can dig the hole. Be sure to water well and check every week or so and if the soil is very dry, water again, about once a month. You will have better luck trying to plant it than by keeping it in a pot until spring. we have a one year return opportunity for one year for roses, for in store credit for the price paid, so hang onto your receipt. Hope that is helpful!

    That bag of compost is a nice visual aid, but do not underestimate the amount of organic matter it takes to rehabilitate Colorado soil. We have a 1/3 acre lot and so far we've added over 20,000 lbs. of compost, leaves, and woodchip in order to turn that dry clay into something usable. Expanded shale is also useful to help your soil retain water.
